| We procure products from global sources. These include foods of all kinds, such as dry-groceries, produce, liquor, wine, meats, seafood, prepared foods, frozen foods, candies, cookies, beverages and so on. They come from almost every part of the world, including the USA, South America, Australia, China, and Europe. Breakdown of major sources of imported products is 33% from the USA, 28% from China, and 12% from Europe. We are pursuing quality, freshness, health, safety, taste and "quantity". Among them we especially give top priority to healthier and safer products over anything else. Protecting the consumers' health is our first priority. Therefore, we always look for products containing the fewest chemicals and additives, and the products free from genetic modification both inside and outside of Japan. Of course, CGC JAPAN is one of the biggest buyers of national brand products in Japan. Therefore, CGC JAPAN purchases merchandise in large quantities directly from leading national brand manufacturers for affiliated members. We distribute the merchandise to each store through CGC JAPAN warehouses, through warehouses operated by large affiliated local chains or through contracted wholesalers' warehouses. CGC JAPAN negotiates centrally with manufacturers on quantity and price on behalf of members. The cost of merchandise is paid through CGC JAPAN to manufacturers. As CGC JAPAN has an enormous buying power, we have developed numerous private brand products both inside of Japan and outside of Japan. We have now about 1300 private brand items under several different names according to the nature and quality of the product. Many times, CGC brand products are made by top national brand manufacturers. Those products are often superior in the quality to the original products and their prices are always lower. We hold exhibitions of supermarket products exclusively for CGC JAPAN members several times a year. Buyers and merchandisers of affiliated member companies engage in face to face negotiation with sales people from various leading manufacturers, always testing new products for guaranteed satisfaction. We are continuing to develop quality products. Therefore, the CGC brand name is always proof of a quality product. |
